Hansen & Jacob and Liberty in design collaboration

Internationally recognised as a leader in print design and textile innovation, Liberty Fabrics have been creating original and inspiring designs for more than 140 years.

Founder Arthur Liberty set about ground breaking work in the late 1870’s, collaborating with British artisans and manufactures to print, dye and weave dress and furnishing fabrics in Britain. Originating as small floral designs, inspired by exotic patterns from the Orient, he soon commissioned distinguished artists such as William Morris, Alma Tadema, Rosetti and Burne-Jones to create designs for Liberty’s textiles, becoming closely involved with the Aesthetic and Art Nouveau Movements of the late nineteenth century.  Remarkably soft and subtle, in muted but instantly recognisable patterns and colours, these beautiful, high quality textiles swiftly became best sellers and world-famous as ‘Liberty Art Fabrics’.

These traditional methods of craftsmanship, enhanced by modern printing techniques have lead to Liberty Fabrics becoming the byword for the very best of original ‘Avant Garde’ textile design. Collaboration starts during the autumn and products will be available in shop early 2017.
